Stanford SEED GSB Visiting Professor Richard Chivaka, Associate Professor at the Graduate Business School, University of Cape Town, and GSB Visiting Professor Syed Zahoor Hassan, Professor at the Suleman Dawood School of Business at the Lahore University of Management Sciences, present their work on Agricultural value chain innovations. Professor Hassan discusses early findings from the first phase of his research project "Re-crafting the Agricultural Supply Chain to Create More Value and Benefit for Small Farmers in Developing Economies." Within the context of a new value creation framework, Professor Richard Chivaka discusses: 1) Aggregation of Zimbabwean small-to-medium sized pig farmers as a way to achieve economies of scale; and 2) challenges (e.g., land tenure issues) and opportunities of forward and backward integration in the South African wine industry.
