Marty Matlock is the director of the Center for Agriculture and Rural Sustainability and a professor of biological and agricultural engineering at the University of Arkansas. He is also an Ecological Society of America certified senior ecologist, and environmental protection commissioner for the Cherokee Nation. In his Food for Thought lecture, Marty takes a look at the international development of criteria for measuring and certifying sustainable agricultural practices, and describe sustainability trends for the major agricultural crops in the USA over the last decade.
