Some stereotypes exist for a reason - because they are grounded in truth. That is why black audiences love to watch his movies, because their truthfulness resonates with the viewer.

I agree with you man. I watched some of his movies and TV shows and I'm just catching myself saying "is this suppose to be funny or touching". I just don't get it. How is this garbage in theaters and TV? Yet this jackass makes millions making garbage movies. Don't get me wrong I love black comedy, growing up I watched the Cosby show, family matters and many others. But those shows try their best to stay away from the black stereotype, while Perry's movies welcome it.

My first thought to change the perception is by educating people on what stereotypical role(s) each character portrays. Maybe then people will realize it's all just an act.

Well this was depressing, but also thought provoking. But Perry has such a large following of die hard fans that pay to watch the same movie/ play over and over how do we change the perception?
