Suvadugal - Documentary film on educated people taking up agriculture as a profession in Tamil Nadu(12/10/2014) - Thanthi TV Madhavan Rajaram, a Mechanical Engineering graduate from IIT-Madras, is now a farmer. When he started farming two decades ago, the balance sheet had negative figures. Now, it is plus 1.75 lakh rupees per acre per annum. Jegannathan of Good Greens in Tiruvallur has a similar success story. He cultivates 45 varieties of micro greens and sells it to lovers of good organic food in the Chennai market. Jegannathan's friend Saravanan Santhanam, a software engineer who worked in the US for 24 years, joined his farm to take the business further. They look to increase their current supply of 10,000 bundles of greens everyday to one lakh bundles. Drudgery and lack of profit have kept the educated youngsters away from agriculture.
