"The Promise of Agriculture" poses the question: “Can we feed 9.7 billion people as globally projected for 2050?" The Filmmaker's opinion is at the end of this vivid, dynamic film. There are many components to food production which are yet to be explored. We will continue to discover new agronomic technologies which will yield great advancements in food production. As the "digital-computer-age" has demonstrated exponential growth in technology and global impact, so will agriculture’s ability to produce food. American farmers are “early-adopters” of technology out of the necessity to their bottom lines and the survival of their respective business models. Completely new agricultural business models will likely evolve in continuum with increasing food demands. It’s the film maker’s opinion that the ability to increase food production will continue at a more rapid pace than the 2050 projected growth in global population. However, as it is today, efficient global food distribution, to those in most need, will continue to be a major challenge.
