2. These r some fantastic ideas. This City reminds me of New York in some ways. NYC went bankrupt in the 70s and now look at it. 
3. Fucking Gross. this presentations is terrible. AS a Detroiter, she is uplifting the worst stories... Phill Cooley isn't just a model who wants to start a busienss, his dad runs a bank, bought phil the restuarant and owns 80 buildings in the corktown neighborhood the restaurant lies in. Shinola is an example of a business pimping the brand of Detroit.
   
   This process is not what people in Detroit wanted... it codifies every rich dude's bad ideas and pushes around poverty.

9. Did I miss the part where she addresses the problem of providing city-level services to a massive city, with a proportionally out of balance population, that is inefficiently spread around? Did I miss the part where she had a realistic idea of how to bring the jobs per 100 people from 27 to, say, 90? Small craft manufacturers and local restaurants are not going to do it. That city WILL shrink, or continue to languish.

Detroit is kindof suffering because of the loss of it's automobile manufacturing sector, right?  And that industry failed because it wasn't sustainable, it was a toxic culture that resisted change so much that it inevitably killed itself - was outcompeted by foreign companies who gave ppl the more sustainable cars they wanted.
    Soooo, what this really is - is a burst bubble.  If the Detroit automobile industry was never really sustainable, then Detroit's downfall was always inevitable.
    It's sad, sure, but bubbles burst all the time.  I don't really understand why people think Detroit's bursting bubble is any more tragic than any other bubble. 
    I guess it's more tragic than the dot-com bubble, because the tech industry adapts VERY fast and recovered almost instantly - i mean look at how strong silicon valley still is, is it even dented?
    The American auto industry needs to change it's culture.  Ok who am i kidding - it won't change anywhere near fast enough, the American auto-industry needs to just die so that the room becomes available for something better to replace it.  It's too fucked up.
    I say it's replacement needs "room", in the sense that while the auto-industry is still alive it has proven time and time again that it will mercilessly attack anything new that threatens it.  So for things to get better, this crazy dog needs to die.

16. First off is that some sort of implant under her skin on her left shoulder if so what is it and why? Second Blacks did not move to the north to get away from farming they left because of slavery! To bad we only thought slavery ended for the Black people when really it was everyone that became enslaved to a grander scam! Next we live in a global world on line where it does not matter where you live or what your neighborhood looks like because you can work in cyber space on anything! 17. More capitalism can't save Detroit. Maybe when things get bad enough, Detroit will be like China, a place where opportunistic predators exploit poor workers for little pay.
    
    No workers, if you want to save Detroit, unite. Form worker owned, worker run enterprises. Form Democratically organized institutions, Worker Cooperatives, and decide together what to produce, where to produce, how much to produce and what to do with the profits. Unite and take over as much of the city as you can by whatever means that you can.
    
    Take back Detroit from the capitalist tyrants who decided that you weren't worth $10 an hour when they could pay sweat shop slaves in China 30 cents an hour. Form credit unions, or join them, and abolish the banks that swept through Detroit taking people's homes. Govern the city yourselves, push aside the corrupt business owned government that abandoned the city and let packs of wild dogs roam loose on the streets.
18. what's wrong with an "agrarian lifestyle" (aka farming)? i am considering moving to the D for urban farming once i can afford it. the city should support urban farming as much as possible, rather than degrade the livelihood which sustains the entire human population.

20. You moderns desperately need a living Roman. We can turn any location into a prosperous metropolis. Sure it would involve ransacking Canada, but who would care? Tom Ford's crack budget will make a great art center after you crucify him.
