www.fao.org/in-action/micca/ Sam Bell, Director of Shared Value Africa, discusses agroforestry in the context of Conservation Agriculture, looking particularly at a study being carried out in Zambia. There are a number of examples of conservation agriculture in the country despite the barriers. The Trees on Farms project aims to enhance conservation agriculture with intercropped legume trees. The main objectives are to increase agricultural productivity, increase climate resilience and climate change mitigation. Trees are planted to improve conservation agriculture, with a focus on nitrogen fixing species. Adding trees to the mix may have environmental benefits as well as co-benefits for food security and resilience to weather shocks. Farm economics suggest that conservation agriculture with tree intercropping can yield much greater yields. This webinar was organized as a part of a learning event on conservation agriculture for climate change mitigation that was organized by the community of practice for climate change mitigation in agriculture and CA-CoP conservation agriculture community of practice in 2012. © FAO www.fao.
