For example, when you go to the grocery store, make sure you always carry a cloth bag. This way the shopkeeper does not have to give you many plastic bags. Fixing - If your watch, or a toy, or a camera is broken or not working, try getting it fixed before you buy yourself a new one. Recycle - Try and be conscious about the things around you. When you consume something, see if you can re-use it later. Learn more about how we can contribute to sustainability. I will use this video for my 4th grade glass, but I will let them know that one piece of information that is incorrect is the date in which plastic was "invented". It was actually invented in 1949 by Dow when they introduced Saran Wrap, a thin,
clingy plastic wrap that was sold in rolls and used primarily for
wrapping food. It quickly became popular for preserving food items stored in the refrigerator. The 90's is when plastic grocery bags became popular. -

The first plastic based on a synthetic polymer was made from phenol and formaldehyde, with the first viable and cheap synthesis methods invented in 1907, by Leo Hendrik Baekeland, a Belgian-born American living in New York state.
