vue - Why We Get Fat -- with Gary Taubes
Why do we get fat -- and what should we do about it? Conventional wisdom says eat less, move more. The problem is that this advice rarely works very well. Science writer Gary Taubes has spent the last decade finding a better answer. His book Good Calories Bad Calories has been very influential, changing the minds of many. Here Taubes discusses his controversial theories as well as the criticism of them. Why do we get fat? This guy tries to make himself appear smart by complicating things but he doesn't fool me. Your body stores energy (fat) because you eat more than you need, there isn't any proof environmental factors make any significant difference.

Hell yes, I'm going back to my beloved bacon! My one true love!
-
I wonder what Taubes thinks of intermittent fasting?......
-
He looks like someone who does things the right way
-
So this guy sounds like Owen Wilson mixed with a bit of Christopher Walken.

OMG! he doesn't only sound like owen wilson , he even looks kinda like him! :-)
( just an addendum, maybe he should have had a good old cough before starting a long filmed interview, lol?) i came across this by total accident, i was look for a gary cooper thing, but when i saw taubes, i tuned in, cos he is so like wilson, then i heard him. we are really laughing here ;-) talk about channelling someone! -
This man! You wrote lies about the 'cold fusion'! The reactions are called LENR -low energy nuclear reactions. They are real!Martin Fleischmann was an order of magnitude smarter than you and you were used by the government to trash him. I am very suspicious with your involvement in this low carb thing? What lies are you going to spew out from your NUSI? You will tell a lot of lies for sure. That is your nature.

Everything he says is bullshit, his own study proves his hypothesis wrong.

Gary Taubes has made history in nutritional science. He got it all wrong.

Bit of pseudoscience going on here to be fair

Why people get fat is because the Government has laced our food supply with Growth Hormones and pesticides and antibiotics. They have stopped using natural products and use man made chemical based additives, and almost everything starts with a man made sweetner .
One has to have a balance meal, and not foods laced with additives. The meat, poultry, veggies, fruits, etc etc have been processed to death. they say eat organic and yet what they sell is Not 100% organic. If it is sold in stores it has to meet certain Government guidelines and it is not 100% organic .
If you want true organic , you would have to raise it and grow it yourselves.
Vegetarians have their own health issues, so one Can not be vegetarian and claim it is all good.
Balance means just that, proteins in meat can not be made up with vegetables alone, nor can the health benefits of vegetables be replaced with meats....there has to be a balance.
Everyone goes from one extreme to the other, you may gain in one area but fail in another. BALANCE is the key and i see few if any programs that admit that. It is either one extreme or the other.
Low Carb for instance can also cause health issues. And to avoid the issues you have to add more salts and more carbs to avoid them....and more salt is not good either...SO....when will someone make a true balanced diet and actually present it to the public and not charge you $50-$100 to get it ? -
I think he made some interesting points but they need to be back up by study's, heres to the next decade of science....
Funny character though. -
show me the fat fruit and veg eaters. lol.

I believe it’s evident that insulin is key contributing factors to weight management issues that limited medical professionals and scientist are hypothesising about; through human evolution we haven’t had the quantity of food and processed carbohydrates / sugar so highly available and our food manipulated until the industrial revolution were we can see significant changes in food and the way it’s been produced on a massive scale so obviously that’s has to effect weight management.
Additionally, were we can see the evidence through history and its strikingly obvious we have screwed up BIG time, now so ingrained into modern day culture and multiple generations that have been taught what is a healthy diet, it’s going to be a challenge to change people’s thinking to more contemporary models of thought about their health and not one model fit all.
The issues presented are really valid points, the issues for people who can see the writing on the wall and wish to pursue a low carbohydrate day with high quality fats (LCHF) is the typical main stream knowledge of health is limited by individuals and medical professionals that’s also include food producers such as shopping centres and restaurants but they are catering to mainstream, so when you either go to a friend’s house for a meal or restaurant your choices are limited and pressure from family and friends adds to the challenges to maintain a LCHF eating style, that’s where I see the failures for myself.
Concluding this I would suggest to those people interested in maintaining as best as possible LCHF eating style, find a backup strategy or other solutions. I know it’s not for everyone and the challenges can be great, but from personal developing experience I have to have a cyclical dieting style that include periods of intermittent fasting increased carbohydrates and back to LCHF eating style so far I have found this to be currently working well. -
Fabulous. Fabulous. Fabulous.

Taubes is so full of shit its not funny! With his junk science book sales he's laughing all the way to the bank. US capitalism (i.e. fuk you I'm ok Jack!) works great!

Here is what happened (at the age of 49.5 and 5'3" starting weight of 224 lbs.) when I combined a tuna and mayonnaise based low carb diet of 25 g per day with apparent symptoms of peri menopause-My voice got deeper, my armpits smelled bad, I did a lot of laundry with plenty of odor control additives, I took many showers and used plenty of clinical strength sweat block Aluminum chloride anti perspirant wipes combined with separately applied donna karan deodorant, and perfume on top of that. I used colgate peroxyl mouthwash. I kept long sleeping hours, I felt lethargic during my waking hours, I use an enema to take a crap, my skin felt persistently warm, moist and sweaty, but I lost weight from a 31 inch waistband to a 29 inch waistband in three months between August and November, with minimal exercise.
