This videoblog shows a demonstration of yam planting in a village on the western side of Tanna Island, Vanuatu. It was recorded this month (August 2014) and features John Kalwas, a field officer with the Vanuatu Cultural Centre based in west Tanna. The footage was shot by Telinga Media as part of the TVET Journalism Initiative, a project of the Pacific Media Assistance Program PACMAS. The project is producing curriculum content for journalism courses at TVET (vocational) institutes in Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. The aim is to create teaching materials that reflect the national and cultural contexts of each Pacific country.
