Great vid and good choice of tunes man.

Awesome vids!! Do you autoclave/pressure cook the tin foil working surface? If not how do you make sure it's sterile?
-
Nice Vid.
Do you ever do yeast cell count (any method)?
How do you know you're not under-pitching?
How long you keep your slants for?
Thanks -
In the book Yeast they pick out a single colony from the plate and put it on a slant. What is the advantage of picking up multiple ones, mixing it in sterile water and then spreading it on the slant? Are you going for diversity, in case the brewer used multiple strains in the beer?

Hey man, if you don't mind sharing, how much money would one spend to have a basic setup to create a home yeast lab capable of maintaining a few different strands of yeast? Say, for a few petri dishes, flasks, beakers, burners, slant tubes, inoculation loop, and anything else I may be missing. Thanks for the great video!

Was that volcano and accident or was that supposed to happen?
-
Tu no sabes lo mucho k me has inspirado... Te lo agradezco muchisisimo.
-
Were you ever by chance an ELT? Some of that glassware looks awfully familiar.
-
I thought it was just me with the volcanoes. It seems if I look away for 2 seconds while heating up the beaker I get a volcano.

2 things: 1. This is a great video! This really helps tremendously 2. I'm glad my stove isn't the only one with signs of boil over.

sorry, novice question here, but could you explain the reason (details) behind such a complex purifying process (are there other cultures you're trying to kill)? why couldn't you just pour the yeast from the commercial beer bottle straight into your sterilized DME wort? have you ever tried an all-grain wort? if so, any different results?

I see that when I downloaded the. videos to realplayer they didnt have the captions. Anyone out there know. how. to gwt captiona that arw added to ajow up? Already went to preferences. and clocked on subtitlea but atill no captions

i wondered about that. I took one off an old MR Heater which has low/med/hi settings. as for the Oxy regulator morebeer had one so i asked if it would work and they told me it was left hand thread and wouldn't work on the lp tanks (you know the small camping tanks, 14oz).

Thanks for responding so fast. What are the specs on those 2 small vials that you used. And where can I get them? Thanks again

You can use any low pressure regulator that will fit the bottle. For example, a regulator for a propane camping stove, or even one for a little propane torch. The one in the video is supposed to be used on oxygen bottles for oxygenating the wort, but it does double duty.

311. DME and water amounts are in the captions. Ratio is always 10% DME by mass.
-
Excellent post. Thanks, you laid it out in a very good way. I'm going to attempt to prepare some petri dishes. I've been searching for several month now trying to find the regulator you have on your propane bottle to supply propane to a Bunsen burner. I can't find it anywhere. Could you please help me find your regulator? Thanks dude. I've got a bottle of bottle conditioned duval waiting to extracted.

Who is the group of the music? Pretty cool tunes. What r the dme ratio to h20 in both applications hard to read the scales.
-
I would believe so...

nice work, and music. if i want to make a high alcohol % beer at home do i need to extract yeast from a beer with a high alcohol %?
